Baber rests Naduva

Maciu Malo In Las Vegas
Sunday, March 04, 2018

FIJIAN flyer Alasio Naduva is expected to be at his best in the second day of competition after being rested by Fiji Airways national 7s head coach Gareth Baber in the first day of the USA 7s in Las Vegas.

Baber said he wanted Naduva to take a deserved rest after arriving in Las Vegas on Thursday night.

Fiji was playing with only 11 men yesterday and the inclusion of Naduva today will certainly boost its campaign.

"All other teams played with 12 men except for us with 11 players," said Baber.

"We rested Naduva as he just flew in yesterday (Thursday) and we want him to recover today.

"That is important, I don't want to put his welfare at risk even though he is a quality player so I am just working with 11 players."

Baber said he trusted his players letting them to play with only 11 men and was clinical in the timing of his subs.

"The impact we do have at the bench and people like Mudu who has showed his class and then you bring on players like Jasa, Mesulame and gives you the ammunition back on the field, especially on the field like this which is narrow — so physicality is important," he added.
