Grammar sets zone target

SUVA Grammar School is focusing on endurance and speed in preparation for the Suva Zone two athletics competition.

Coach Jone Delai said they had been preparing the athletes for the past two years — focusing on increasing their endurance to help them achieve their best.

"We had two weeks only to prepare for the inter-house and then pick the successful candidates and submit them to the school management for the final say, but overall we have a good bunch or runners in the boys' and girls' divisions," Delai said.

"Last year we won two gold in the Coca-Cola Games which was a good sign for us. We're reviewing our last year's performance and now work on our strength, go past our achievements to win more medals in this year's game.

"Right now we are working on our speed endurance so we're doing our stretching, interval training and strength training. "With patience and hard work, these athletes can achieve their best time," Delai said.
