IN its 11th year, Fiji Fashion Week (FJFW) has decided to give fashion lovers something different.

FJFW has started preparations for its May show promising to not only make it different, but also a world-class event.

Yesterday, the popular fashion show brand started scouting for potential models.

Managing director Ellen Whippy-Knight said more than 80 aspiring models turned up for the event.

"It has been a really great turnout. It's really lovely to see a lot of new talents," Mrs Whippy-Knight said.

She said the new faces brought a breath of fresh air to the industry which needed constant changes every year.

She also said: "It's a lot of work for us because with new faces comes a lot of inexperience but also comes the absolute enthusiasm and keenness to do this.

"We have to break that down and instil the confidence in them."

She said modelling raised the self esteem of young girls and made them a force to reckon with.

The fashion show will be held at the newly-renovated FMF Gymnasium in Laucala Bay, Suva on May 25 and 26.
