LANKY French rugby 7s forward Tavite Veredamu is ready for his baptism of fire when he faces his fellow countrymen in the Fiji Airways Fiji 7s team in their second pool game today.

The Nakavu Village native from Namosi said he expected a tough and physical confrontation against Fiji and was ready for the new challenge.

He said the real test would be against the big boys up front and he was prepared for the challenge.

"This weekend will be my first game against Fiji and I am really looking forward to the game," said Veredamu.

"It is going to be a tough and physical game tomorrow and I am expecting the real test against the big boys."

Veredamu said although he would be playing for France he would dedicate this game to his parents, siblings and to all the Nakavu villagers.

He said he didn't play rugby in Fiji, but it was his childhood dream to represent the country.

"My childhood dream was to represent Fiji, but I am honoured to be included in the France 7s side.

"I left Fiji when I was 18 years old joining the French Foreign Legion and have been playing rugby for about five years now."

He said he had served in Afghanistan and also in South Africa, but nothing beats the feeling of battling against his fellow countrymen later today.
