ODPP: Police officers among 61 charged with criminal offences

Update: 7:20PM THERE were 61 people charged with a total of 58 counts on separate incidents of non-sexual violence offences for the month of February this year.

The report by the Officer of the Director of Public Prosecutions released today stated out of the 61 people charged, four were Police officers. 

"One Police officer was charged with receiving stolen property. He is alleged to have received two calves for $300, which was stolen property," the report stated.

"Another Police officer was charged with dangerous driving whereby he allegedly fell asleep at the wheel while another Police officer was charged with one count of careless driving which caused damage to the Police vehicle.

"In another incident, a Police officer was charged with theft, however, this matter was withdrawn due to insufficient evidence."

The charges included two murder charges, one attempted murder, 15 aggravated robbery, one attempted aggravated robbery, 10 aggravated burglary, one attempted aggravated burglary, six theft cases, one of receiving stolen property, three assault cases, six of act with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, three trafficking in persons, one dangerous driving, one careless driving, two unlawful cultivation, one possession of illicit drugs, one criminal intimidation, one damaging property, one resisting arrest one and breach of DVRO.
