New emergency operations centre opens in Tavua

Update: 1:40PM THE new Tavua emergency operations centre was officially opened today by Assistant Minister for National Disaster Management Joeli Cawaki.

While opening the EU-funded facility, Mr Cawaki said Tavua was no stranger to natural disasters.

He said the centre would provide an operations point for emergency response teams to coordinate their work and deliver services on time to people in need.

He expressed gratitude to the United Kingdom and the European Union for providing the much-needed funding for the construction of the new facility. 

The EOC refurbishment cost $75,917.
