Canadian couple

Simon Hazelman, Savusavu

Rajend Naidu of Sydney, Australia wants to know from me about how the Canadian couple got duped in Nadi.

Rajend relates it to things that go wrong in post-coup Fiji (FT:01/03).

Can Rajend please explain things that have gone wrong in Sydney, Australia, pre and post-coup Fiji 1987, 2000 and 2006?

I believe murder, sexual assault, robbery with a firearm, break and enter, motor vehicle theft, stealing, fraud, and malicious damage to property, are just a few crimes that occur in Sydney?

The numbers are extremely alarming?

And why should we believe this Canadian couple in the first place?

After 28 years working in the tourism industry in Fiji you come to learn that lots of visitors to our shores will take advantage of anything and everything in order to get what they want.

The tourism industry is conditioned to believe that tourists are always right and sadly, it is this attribute that is taken advantage of by many of our visitors.

Whatever the circumstances Rajend, I believe it is fair to say Fiji is by far a much safer and friendlier place to live than your Sydney!
