Naduva makes plea

CRITICISMS make members of the Fiji Airways Fiji 7s team stronger, says one of its squad members, Alasio Naduva.

He said the players were under a lot of pressure when they played in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

"The pressure increases when we are on the field," the New Zealand 7s winner said.

"Despite our performance, the criticisms we received motivated us to play our best which we did in Hamilton.

"We can do it again this weekend. With God by our side, nothing is impossible."

Naduva commended the hard work made by the players during the Sydney 7s and NZ 7s.

"Since joining the national squad, we've become a family and knowing us Itaukei, we are always related to someone. I am grateful to the Almighty for brining me here."

Naduva looks up to his parents for inspiration and having his mother cheering for him in New Zealand boosted him.

He calls on Fijians to support the team at the Las Vegas 7s instead of criticising it.

Fiji will play Russia in its first pool match of the Las Vegas 7s at 12.06pm tomorrow and take on France at 3.07pm, Fiji then play its final pool match against Kenya at 8.36am on Sunday.

The cup quarters start at 1.26pm on Sunday, semis will be held at 9.12am on Monday while the cup final will kick off at 12.30pm on Monday.
