WARATAHS new recruit Kalivati Tawake has set his focus on representing the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians at the 2019 Rugby World Cup to be held in Japan, says Suva coach Saiasi Fuli.

Tawake had been playing under Fuli for the Suva rugby team before landing a deal with Australia-based Waratahs Super Rugby team.

"He is one of the hardworking forwards who has been playing locally for the past 10 years," Fuli said.

"He had played for Lautoka before he was recruited by the army rugby team and moved to Suva where he played in the last five years," Fuli said.

"Tawake is one of the very dedicated and committed prop in the country in terms of his training, though he does not talk much, his work speaks for himself on the rugby field.

"He plays with a lot of dedication and everyone in Suva knows that he is one of the hardworking props in the team."

Fuli said Tawake could be an asset for Fiji.

"He wants to play for Fiji in the 2019 Rugby World Cup, but his major obstacles were Manasa Saulo and Peni Ravai because they are current Flying Fijians. However, Tawake kept playing and worked hard in the Skipper Cup and HFC Farebrother Cup and his selection in the Fiji Warriors and Fijian Drua was not a mistake," he said.

"He deserve to be playing in the Super Rugby competition and it is a big achievement for him and Fiji Rugby Union.

Tawake travelled with the Waratahs to South Africa to play Sharks.
