Update: 3:15PM EIGHTY out of the 500 plus women participating at the Central Craft Show in Suva today will be selected to participate at the National Women's Expo in Suva later this year.

The selection will be based on their ability to meet market demands, and the quality of their products presented.

At the opening of the craft show at Sukuna Park today, Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Veena Bhatnagar said the focus for this years expo is for artisans to produce quality products that are a level up from the last National Womens Expo .

She said this was to build a new business culture amongst rural women artisans so their products can connect to the growing market here in Fiji and abroad.

"The targeted number of participants has decreased compared to the past 3 years since the focus now is to select the best of the quality products produced by the women artisans as we want women to get attain the Fijian Made certification on their products and be able to export their products overseas, she said.
