Local Tongans begin TC Gita relief drive

Update: 1:30PM IN an effort to help those affected by Tropical Cyclone Gita, the Suva Tongan Church , "ApiTonga" today launched a relief drive.

Executive member of the church Taholo Kami said the drive is targeting to collect 1,800 buckets of biscuits to be sent to Tonga on March 8 which will be distributed by the Tonga Red Cross. 

The relief has been launched in partnership with FMF Foods Limited who are offering $20.00 for each bucket to be purchased by the church.                                     

Mr Kami also stressed that those who are willing to donate can bring their money to the WOWS Kids Fiji Office at Rewa Street from today till Monday. 

"Please do not go buy the bucket yourselves it would cost you more than $27.00 , just bring the money to us we will give you a receipt."

"The money collected will be taken to FMF to purchase the buckets to be taken to Tonga on March 8."

Another drive will be held at the bowling club on Saturday morning during a fun run and also in the evening at the University of the South Pacific's Gymnasium at 6:30 PM.
