Thursday, March 01, 2018

Update: 1:29PM A TOTAL of 69 people are living with HIV in the seven countries studied by the Fiji Network of People living with HIV (FJN+) in the Pacific.

Speaking today at the press conference for the overview report of people living with HIV stigma index study in Suva, country director for UNAIDS Pacific office Renata Ram said people living with HIV suffered high rates of discrimination.

"Our HIV response needs to shift away from a disease-focused approach to a people-centred approach," Ms Ram said.

"This report provides an insight into a solution for the Pacific in reaching UNAIDS shared vision of getting to zero, that being there is zero new infections, zero discrimination, and zero AIDS-related deaths."

The study was carried out by FJN+ with support from the United Nations Development Program.
