Canadian couple Perhaps Simon Hazelman might have an explanation for how the Canadian couple got duped (FT 28/2). I believe he is good at offering rationalisations for things that go wrong in post-coup Fiji. Rajend Naidu Sydney, Australia

WE have been experiencing sewage smells at two spots in the Suva area, firstly at the Kinoya sewerage plant, the other at the Nabua bridge and another location that has been there for quite a while and still has not been looked into is at the entry of Nepani Rd.

There was a sewerage main that had a hole a few years back and it was fixed but the smell is still there.

They have built a new main but the smell remains.

Maybe they might have not fully fixed the old hole completely before doing up the new hole.

Please can someone fix the problem for good.

Interesting to note that there are no TFL cables (voice and data) available in the new housing sub-division in Nakasi which is one of the fastest growing places between Suva and Nausori.

1. Are they going wireless which is more expensive; and

2. How are we going to make calls from the landline when there are no cables?

IT is a nightmare for drivers of passenger cars, who travel daily along Ratu Dovi Rd, Laucala Beach and 9 Miles Nakasi.

The so called "temporary" road humps not only cause traffic jams but also causes damage to the tyre rod ends etc.

One has to virtually stop and crawl over the barbaric humps.

I plead with authorities to construct proper road humps, if there is a real need, as I believe a call for total removal will be barking up the wrong tree.

Winston Churchill puts it aptly, "success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts".
