Ba to miss key players

BA will miss the services of star striker Saula Waqa for the Vodafone Premier League trip to Vanua Levu this weekend.

Waqa, who won the golden boot award during the VPL awards last year, has a knee injury and has been advised to rest. Midfielder Laisenia Raura, meanwhile, returns from suspension to boost the 'Men In Black.'

Ba will face Labasa at 1.30pm on Saturday and then play Dreketi on the same venue at 1.30pm on Sunday.

The side returned from the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Champions League recently failing to go through to the quarter-finals from the group stage.

Last week, Ba recorded its win in the VPL defeating Rewa 1-0. The side lost to Nadi 3-1 in the opening round. Ba team manager Arvind Singh said the trip to Vanua Levu was always strenuous. Singh said their training had been hampered by the heavy rain this week.

"We know that it is also raining in Vanua Levu, so the ground conditions will be heavy," he said.

"Ba is renowned for its structured ground ball play, so the conditions will make things difficult. Labasa will always be tough at home."
