Lautoka needs victory

Update: 9:54PM LAUTOKA needs a victory today over AS Venus to secure a spot in the quarter final stage of the 2018 Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Champions League.

Lautoka beat Madang 3-1 in their opening match last weekend while Venus lost to Auckland City 7-0. Both City and Lautoka will book a spot in the quarterfinal stage if they win their respective matches today.

Despite Venus conceding a heavy loss at the hands of City, Lautoka coach Kamal Swamy said their opponents will not be an easy side to beat.

"We shouldn't take anything from Venus' performance they were playing against Auckland City but they may have a different strategy against us. It will again be a tough match for us," Swamy told OFC media.

"Venus have nothing to lose now and they would like to qualify for the quarterfinals, so they will give everything in this game. It will be tough."

Swamy said they would need to better their performance for a victory this afternoon.

"We need to change our game plan in this match looking at Venus and how they play. What they played against Auckland, they won't play against us so we need to settle down and change our tactics and get into our work."

Lautoka face Venus at 12 noon.
