VESI House won the Dilkusha Methodist High School inter-house competition at the ANZ Stadium, Suva, yesterday.

Overall, Vesi House won 31 gold medals, 18 silver and 16 bronze medals. Yaka House finished second with 24 gold medals, 13 silver, and 15 bronze medals, Damanu House 20 gold medals, 35 silver and 24 bronze medals. At fourth place was Dakua House with 14 gold medals, 17 silver and 23 bronze medals.

Kelepi Yaloqaqa, meanwhile, of Yaka House, won the blue ribbon event clocking 11.02 seconds. Principal Satyendra Singh said the expectations for athletes was very high because the school had athletes who could win medals in the Nausori, Nasinu and Naitasiri Zone which is also called the Triple N Zone.

"There will be stiff competitions against big schools like Adi Cakobau and Lelean Memorial School," Singh said.

In the sub junior boys, Joseph Aisake and Waisake Namila won gold medals in their events.

Singh said they were banking on sub junior girls' 800m runner Vive Vakaseva who clocked 3:20:12 minutes and 2017 senior girl's javelin gold medallist Kelera Tinanisalala, among other athletes.

"We hope to get medals in the junior boys long jump and senior boys high jump. We have seen capable students and they will be very competitive."

The Triple N Zone will be held on March 15 at the ANZ Stadium.
