THE president of the International Federation of Gymnastics (FIG), the world governing body for the sport, will visit Fiji in July.

Morinari Watanabe will lead the FIG presidential and executive committee meeting at the Pearl South Pacific Resort at Pacific Harbour

Gymnastics Federation of Fiji (GFF) president, Darlene Underwood said they were honoured to host the world meeting.

"With less than two years after gaining provisional membership of the FIG, the GFF has been granted the honour of hosting the FIG presidential and executive committee meetings in July," she said.

The six-day event, which will be presided by Watanabe, will be attended by more than 35 international delegates.

"GFF will have the opportunity to showcase its clubs and programs through visits and cultural evenings.

"The GFF board and team of sport development officers look forward to taking on the challenge of hosting this prestigious event.

"In 2017 Watanabe took over the reins of FIG. He has vowed to visit each and every member federation to host the meetings which will see proposals approved and important decisions made."

Australia, New Zealand, Cook Islands, American Samoa and Fiji make up Oceania Gymnastics.
