THE visiting Asian Productivity Organisation delegation intends to focus on key areas such as agriculture, smart industry, smart services and public sector productivity enhancement in Fiji.

The delegation was received with traditional ceremonies of welcome at the National Training and Productivity Centre in Narere on Monday.

Chief guest Dr Santhi Kanoktanaporn said they were in Fiji to hold discussions with the director of NTPC, Dr Isimeli Tagicakiverata, and the Ministry of Employment.

Dr Kanoktanaporn acknowledged the fact that he was welcomed in such a manner.

"I feel really honoured to witness this traditional culture of welcoming that I have never seen before in any other country," Dr Kanoktanaporn said. Also part of the welcome ceremomny was a Tonga Public Service Commission delegation which was part of the Fiji National University's Fiji Business Excellence Awards launch process.

Tonga's PSC chief executive Dr Lia Maka said they were in Fiji at the request of Dr Tagicakiverata after making an inquiry on how to implement the business excellence program.

"Fiji is our neighbour we made an inquiry to see whether we'd be able to learn how to actually implement that program because we know there's a lot of things that need to be taken into account before we actually run the awards. That's why we are here and we're very grateful to Dr Isimeli as well as the vice- chancellor for the opportunity to be part of this process."

TheTongan delegation consisted of Salote Vuki, the deputy chief executive of the Performance Development Workforce and Kepueli Ioane, who is the deputy chief executive of the Ministry of Public Enterprise.
