THE search for the missing Cessna 172 aircraft widened to Waikisi Village in Cakaudrove yesterday .

Nubunikavula Village headman Osea Tabuiga said they trekked close to Nakorosavusavu yesterday.

Mr Tabuiga said they continued search over to Nauniivi, an old road that leads to Savusavu throught the forest.

"The road passes through the mountains bordering Nukubolu in Savusavu on the district of Wailevu, Cakaudrove," he said.

"We searched through Navuniivi and its nearby mountains and forests.

"The police team led by the station officer at Labasa Police Station Inspector Atonio Lavekau proceeded past Navuniivi into the interior of Cakaudrove.

"We are continuing search though in the forests near the village right through to Nakoromakawa."

Mr Tabuiga said they were working with police and army officers in the search yesterday.

Nakoromakawa villagers Raioma Maravesi and Gabiriele Buli told this newspaper that their village was literally empty as villagers accompanied search parties.

"A couple of villagers have travelled to the forests with their horses armed with their knives to clear bushes as they continue search," said Mr Maravesi.
