Update: 7:19PM EXPECT increased police visibility on our roads from today after the government handed over 30 new motorcycles to the Fiji Police Force in Suva today.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, acting Prime Minister and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said police play a crucial role in maintaining law and order in our societies and mobility was important for them.

"It is very critical for the Fiji Police Force to be mobile in respect to attending to traffic or when responding to crime related cases," Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.

"We have ordered around 100 motorcycles for the Fiji Police Force and they obviously are in great need for them."

Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu thanked the Fijian Government and Asco Motors for their support and said the police force will look into seriously taking good care of the new vehicles and motorcycles they have received so far.
