Missing Aircraft: Government appoints investigator

Update: 6:32PM AN INVESTIGATOR has been appointed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to oversee work over the Pacific Flying School Cessna 172.

At a press conference today, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, the minister responsible confirmed that an independent investigator would be appointed to carry out the necessary investigations.
"The last location on the automatic dependent surveillance broadcast (ADSB) for the Cessna 172 aircraft recorded by ATC is about six (6) nautical miles South South West of Labasa and approximately one (1) nautical mile West North West of Navakauru Village," he said.
The Civil Aviation Minister said the Nadi Air Traffic management had declared a search/rescue SAR (Search and Rescue) uncertainty phase at 12.40pm at 12.48pm.
He said the search and rescue operations were still continuing and would continue until the crash site was located.
