Update: 3:43PM MORE Fijian micro, small to medium enterprises (MSMEs) will benefit from a $5.9 million grant support provided by the Indian Government.

The support is in its second phase  from the Indian Government towards the Micro and Small Business Grant (MSBG) initiative of the Fijian Government.

The support/ was sealed through a memorandum of agreement signed earlier today in Suva by Indian High Commissioner Vishvas Sapkal and Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Koya.

Mr Koya said the MSBG initiative began in 2014 and had supported more than 17,970 micro and small entrepreneurs and further directly impacted the lives of approximately 89,750 Fijians.

"We again thank the Indian Government for their support  and hope to continue building stronger relationships in years to come," Mr Koya said.

Mr Sapkal said this support grant was a follow up to its initial $4.67 million provided in 2016.

He added that this also strengthened Fiji's bilateral ties with the Indian government.
