Loggers worsen north roads

Update: 10:46AM LOGGING operators who use the Navidamu Road in Labasa have worsened road conditions and breached their permits.

Fiji Roads Authority chief executive officer Jonathan Moore says they had reported the matter to the Department of Forestry given that the permit does not allow them to cart logs during wet weather.

"In the long term we have major gravel layers programed along with drainage works on approximately 10km of this 30km long route," he said.

"This is more likely than to start from August 2018 in readiness for the following wet season."

The FRA was trying to restore emergency access for the buses on Navidamu Road yesterday.
