VODAFONE Fiji national football coach Christophe Gamel has named England-based Fiji-born defender Scott Wara in his 34-member extended squad for the international friendly against Philippines.

Gamel said Wara was keen to come and play for Fiji and he (Gamel) would not jeopardise his (Wara's) career.

"I will only use him for the international friendly match because he had a good evolution and may one day join the England national team and we all will be proud because he is a Fiji-born player,"Gamel said.

"Yes, I can confirm Wara will join us for the international friendly match against Philippines with our wonder boy Roy Krishna."

Gamel said Krishna would also join the camp as this was a FIFA Window match.

He also included former Ba and national defender Alvin Singh, now playing in Australia, former Fiji U20 midfielder Altaf Saheb based in New Zealand and Leroy Jennings of Australia.

The Frenchman said the door would still be open for potential players for the national team.

"My door is always open when I see improvement in a player's performance and his capabilities to learn more," Gamel said.

Gamel said he had named some new players together with former players.

"Yes there are some new and old players and I will see their worth in camp before making the final team.

Gamel said he was looking at a long-term plan for Fiji Football.

"I have named some players who are just 17-20 years and these players can get more exposure and confidence playing overseas teams which will make it easy for us to accomplish our mission 2026,"

Also making their way in the squad are Ba goalkeeper Josaia Ratu, Rewa goalkeeper Benito Manasa, Tuinai Waqavou, Lami goalkeeper Waisake Ravuiwasa, Labasa goalkeeper Akuila Mataisuva, Suva defenders Sekaraia Naisua, Epeli Leiroti and Shafim Buksh.
