AMAN Gounder won the Pacific Energy-sponsored 2018 season opening tournament at the FSC Penang Golf Club on Sunday.

The 10 handicapper beat a field of 18 players to take out top honours.

Gounder said he played a consistent game despite the hot weather condition and delivered the results as expected.

He carded rounds of 38, 34, 38 and 37 to return a best gross score of 147.

Praneel Lal, handicapper 23, came in first for the nett division with a score of 126.

Jese Bale, Edwin Raju, Pita Gounder, Sanmogam Gounder and Shanol Lal were other winners in the nett category.

Pacific Energy's national commercial sales manager Ashween Mani, in presenting the prizes, pledged the company's support for rural sports development.

"We will continue to recognise minor sports and step forward to sponsor tournaments in a small district like Rakiraki," he said.

Meanwhile, Prashant Reddy won the seven-hole Chemtec Solutions-sponsored junior tournament on Saturday.
