TONY Cen took out the BSP Life Insurance-sponsored snooker tournament at the Lautoka Club on Sunday.

Cen defeated veteran Suresh Chauhan 2-1 in the final.

The event will be held every week in a bid to get the players to concentrate on break building.

Chauhan made the highest break of 32 points followed by Cen with 28 points and Philip Gock with 26 points. Tournament coordinator Simon Reddy said the event was open to all players.

"This tournament is being staged to attract more pool players into snooker," Reddy said.

"There is more emphasis on break building. Players who are not members of Lautoka Club are also invited to participate," he said.

Meanwhile, the 2018 North West Billiards and Snooker Association league will start this week.

Tavua Club, Ba Central Club, Lautoka Club, Simla Club, South Seas Club, Nadi Club and Olosara Sigatoka Club will take part.

The opening round of matches will be played at the Lautoka Club on March 3.
