NEW categories have been added in the Fiji Human Resources Institute Awards which will be held in June this year.

The new categories for the 2018 awards were officially launched at the Novotel Nadi Resort last Friday.

While launching the awards for this year, FHRI president Kameli Batiweti said the number of nominees had increased from last year.

"This year we will have four individual awards and two organisational awards," he said.

"Last year we only had two individual awards and two organisational awards and so unlike last year this year's organisational awards will be very specific.

"For the organisational awards, companies will be assessed on their health, safety and wellbeing programs and secondly on their learning and development programs.

"If a company has some of the best practices in health and wellbeing they will be up for nomination under this category.

"We are encouraging companies that know they have some of the best practices in these areas to submit their names for these awards."

He said this year's awards would have more nominees as a result of the new categories.

"The closing date for nominations is April 28 so companies still have time to send in their nominations."

The awards ceremony is expected to be held in June.
