Women's club to empower members

EMPOWERING a woman is empowering a family which is the foundation of a community.

This was shared by the Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Veena Bhatnagar, during launch of the Wainibokasi Multiracial Women's Club in Nakelo, Tailevu last Friday.

Ms Bhatnagar said the launch of the new women's club was a very promising and praiseworthy achievement of the women gathered in the area.

"The more remarkable thing is that the group is a multiracial one, bringing to the table the diversity that Fiji has as its core strength," she said.

"We want every daughter in Fiji to grow up in a country where she can believe in herself, believe in her future, and follow her heart and realise her dreams.

"It is organisations like these that set the example for our little girls, that women are capable of achieving anything because the sky is the limit.

"When women are not paid well, 50 per cent of the population is not paid well," she said.
