Update: 10:13PM AUSTRALIA's High Commissioner to Fiji John Feakes expects Fiji to take on Australia at the rugby 7's finals during the Commonwealth Games in April.

In an interview with Fiji Times Online today, Mr Feakes said he anticipates Fiji's sports representatives to do exceptionally well at the Commonwealth Games.

"We are very pleased that there will be a big contingency from Fiji and the rest of the Pacific Islands, and we anticipate them doing really well," he said.

"I think all eyes will be on the 7's tournament where I anticipate Fiji finishing right on top of that tournament as are aware, recently in Sydney, the Australian team won and then later in Hamilton, one week later, the Fiji Team won so I am hoping for a final which features Fiji and Australia."

The Commonwealth Games will be held on the Gold Coast, Australia from April 4 to 15.
