Traffic issues

Suresh Chand,Nadi
Monday, February 26, 2018

I think our local authorities need to be considering extending traffic lights to the remaining busy intersections to permanently address the traffic woes of our tourist town of Nadi. We all agree that there is no better way to smoothen the traffic flow than the lights.

The traffic lights not only help in the smooth flow of traffic but it also helps reduce driver conflicts and risks of accidents on roads to a great extent.

Enter the traffic lights, you get a fair chance to move whichever lane you are on.

It is not like the "right hand rule" which has no timing and control. Until we talk and organise traffic lights if possible, let's put traffic controllers to help end motorists' daily nightmare in the intersections without any question.

Otherwise, the problem will keep painting a negative picture of our tourist town which is in the making of a city.

We occasionally do see police controlling the situation in some places but only momentarily.

I think our town's traffic problem requires your full-time attention so please place the controllers to each affected intersection on a regular basis if you understand our concerns and the problem at hand.

Please use motor cycles which are easy to move and keep the situation under control like you did in the past.

If the resources are not utilised to address the problem such as this one, then I think the donation is a waste.

Frankly speaking police visibility in our tourist town is almost zero. Please show interest in owning and tackling the problem of your town.
