HOSTING the International Cricket Council East Asia Pacific Sub Regional World T20 Qualifier in Fiji will help expand the economy says Cricket Fiji general manager Setoki Galuvakadua.

"We are expecting about $2 million to $5 million to be poured in the Fijian economy and it is also a tourism boost," he said.

"The people will enjoy the night-life in Suva and the food.

"The local economy will benefit from the competition and we have other plans as well."

He said ICC would help them to host the tournament.

"Our preparation to host the International Cricket Council East Asia Pacific Sub Regional World T20 Qualifier in August will be based on the directive from the ICC as we have to agree to their terms and conditions," he said.

"We have started our work on the booking for the ground and the accommodation for the teams to stay. Cricket Fiji has also started talking with the local sponsors who could come on board to sponsor the event.

"We will put up the bid for the media broadcast rights and whoever wins will get the rights to show the competition and when we will put up the bid, the terms and conditions will be told to them."

The tournament will be held from August 25-30 where Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Fiji and Samoa will compete.
