FIJI Airways national 7s forward Mesulame Kunavula has joined the national side in Las Vegas while flyer Alasio Naduva is still in the country.

Assistant 7s coach Saiyasi Fuli yesterday confirmed that Kunavula has departed the country.

"Mesu has joined the team and he is now with the rest of the players in Las Vegas," he said.

"Naduva is still in the country and we will be able to confirm his availability tomorrow (today)."

Meanwhile, the hunger to win will be a significant factor for the national 7s players this weekend.

That is the view of former national 7s rep Manasa Bari who guided the Police team to winning the Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s over the weekend. A vital member of the victorious Fiji 7s team that won the 1997 Rugby World Cup Sevens, Bari said determination, guts, commitment, teamwork would fall into fall once a player was hungry for a win.

Bari said the national 7s players had experienced the above at the Hamilton 7s and nothing would stop them if the hunger to win came from their hearts.

"The team is on the right path and nothing will stop them from wining if they are truly hungry for a win," he said.

"They have proven it in New Zealand and they can do it again —— it is a matter of the heart."

Bari, who also dedicated Police win at the Nawaka to Fiji 7s flyer Eroni Sau, said the Yasawa native would be one of the players to watch this weekend.

"We dedicated our win on Saturday to Eroni and we are confident he will carry on the momentum in Las Vegas."

Another former national rep and Wardens coach Sailosi Naiteqe said the national side had the potential to win in Vegas.

He said the boys just needed to strengthen their defence and to improve on their discipline.

"We have a good team and we just need to toughen our defence," said Naiteqe.

"The boys must also improve on their discipline and once these two factors are taken care of they have a good chance.

"Their performance in Hamilton shows they have what it takes to win tournaments and I am confident they will do well in Las Vegas."
