Special school students graduate

A GROUP of Lautoka Special School students graduated yesterday with Certificates in Front Office and Housekeeping training.

The students, who were trained by staff of Radisson Blu Resort Fiji Denarau Island, were part of the course implemented by the Pasifika Institute of Tourism Studies.

They were joined by other special needs students trained and hired by Radisson Blu Resort Fiji Denarau Island and other properties in Denarau.

Radisson Blu Resort Fiji Denarau Island manager Julian Racine said the two-year program had resulted in employment for former students.

"At the beginning, we had our first group of students and we did not know what to expect," he said.

"But after their training, they had been amazing and we are very proud to see them excel.

"The first group proved themselves to be very reliable and trustworthy and because of this, we were able to agree to take a second group of students.

"Now two years later, we have group number four graduating with similar training and these new students will also start in our food and beverage, which was a new trade that we introduced."

He said the special school students were hardworking and dedicated to their work.

"So with that, we started to tell other properties that if you hire students from Lautoka Special School, you will not regret it."
