CONGO Waimanu 7s finally hit the headlines after their oldies team defeated Mosi 10-5 to win the 2018 Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s Oldies title.

Former national reps Sailosi Naiteqe, Sainivalati Vunibola and Lemeki Duidomo teamed up to help the Sawani Village-based team win.

Naiteqe thanked the Nawaka 7s organisers for acknowledging the former players.

He said the tournament enabled the former players the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of fans despite age catching up on them.

"We are happy to win after long time and I thank the organisers for allowing us to play," said Naiteqe.

"I am happy to again play with my former teammates and I believe this is a new beginning for Waimanu."

Meanwhile, the main Waimanu team was beaten by Police in the cup semi-final.
