Three join Fiji squad

ATHLETICS Fiji has included three additional athletes in the initial nine-member squad to the 2018 Commonwealth Games which will be held at Gold Coast, Australia in April.

Athletics Fiji chief development officer and section manager to the Commonwealth Games Joseph Rodan Jr said the athletes would under go a four weeks of training in preparation for the Commonwealth Games.

"The team has been approved by FASANOC and the nine athletes will depart first on Tuesday for Brisbane and from there they will travel to Gold Coast," he said.

Rodan said the athletes had to stay healthy for the competition.

"There were initially nine athletes, but we got an increase in the quota at the last moment and now there are 12 athletes," he said.

"Our objective is to stay healthy and fit and it would be able to help execute all the preparation work."

Aaron Powell- 100m/4X100m/4X400m, Samuela Railoa- 200m/ 4X100m/4X400m, Kameli Ravuci- 400m/4X400m, Petero Veitaqomaki- 800m/4X100m/4X400m, Eugene Vollmer- Triple Jump/ 4X100m, Malakai Kaiwalu- High Jump, Mustafa Fall- Shot Put, Kolinio Radrudru- 100m/400m, Miriama Senokonoko- Long Jump, Shawntell Lockington- High Jump, Makereta Naulu- 100m, Elenani Tinani- 400m
