FTUC after another permit

THE Fiji Trades Union Congress will apply again for another permit for a march through Suva City on April 7, says national secretary Felix Anthony.

"The application for the march on Saturday, February 24, was rejected by the Fiji Police Force on Thursday afternoon at 5pm stating that the permit for the march would not be issued because I, as a national secretary for the FTUC, was in some kind of investigation," Mr Anthony said.

He added the Director of Public Prosecutions Christopher Pryde announced on Friday that no charges would be laid against him.

"We believed that that decision was wrong, misconceived and unfair on the workers of this country," Mr Anthony said.

"We have decided for the march to take place on April 7. That gives the Government plenty time to breathe, to reconsider their actions and to do the right thing."

Mr Anthony said the trade unions hoped the relevant authorities would not reject their application again.
