Fond memories

Save Cavalevu, Narere

Isa, I met up with one of my high school English teachers last Friday, master Mosese Velia.

He, of course, didn't remember me at first as I introduced myself but after I mentioned some mutually familiar names such as our Maths teacher Don Unger, our English Literature teacher Murray Heasley who coached the mighty 1974 QVS Deans team, Eric Sigston, master Maika Belovula, Lusi Vuetaki and the legendary master Netani Druavesi, master Mo literally had tears welling in his eyes.

Such beautiful memories of great men and women who impacted the lives of thousands of us who were fortunate to be admitted to Vulinitu.

To think that we could still share stories and reminisce of events more than 40 years ago testifies of the indelible mark our teachers and mentors and our learning institutions had on us.

To master Mo and all our teachers out there, take a bow, for yours is truly a noble profession.
