Club helps children at home

THERE is so much more than just being a member of a car club in Fiji. It's about being part of a group that helps each other out in time of need and also assisting the less fortunate in society.

Many car clubs in Fiji have contributed immensely to communities particularly through fundraising drives and car shows.

This month the Fiji Hybrid Gang car club started their New Year with a gift to the St Christopher's Home in Nakasi.

Club general secretary Farhat Nawaaz Ali said the purpose of the gift to the home was to assist the children with their basic needs.

"The members of the club had collected funds from the donations made by the members and with the funds bought toiletries, food items and baby essentials for the children," Mr Ali said.

"The donation is an achievement for the club and we thank each of our members for their immense contribution to the visit.

"The car club plans to do more charity work in the near future with plans of doing the charity work on a much bigger scale

"We urge the general public to come forward and contribute whatever they can so that the contributions can serve a great assistance to the less privileged people living in our society.

"Doing charity works like this reminds us of our responsibility towards the less fortunate children and people of Fiji that need our help."

He said doing a bit of charity work gave the members a sense of inner peace and happiness.

"Seeing the children smile means a lot more to the members which has enlightened them to do more for the future."

The club consists of 45 members, of which 40 are hybrid owners and five are supportive members.
