SOUTH Pacific tourism is set to showcase its attractions at the LA Travel & Adventure Show giving the regional operators to strengthen their Pacific brand in the US market.

In a press statement issued yesterday, South Pacific Tourism Organisation CEO Christopher Cocker said they had partnered with Fiji Airways to bring member countries to the show.

Mr Cocker said they welcomed the continuous support from Fiji Airways as a vital component of the work done by SPTO in the region, including strengthening existing business relationships among exhibitors and key travel industries in the US.

He said SPTO and Fiji Airways were co-organising the participation of Pacific Islands at the show with Tonga and Samoa included under the South Pacific Islands exhibition, along with American Samoa, Cook Islands, Fiji, Solomon Islands and Tahiti also showcasing under individual country booths at the event.

"In January to September 2017, over 150,000 tourists from the US visited Pacific Island countries, 39.8 per cent of that arriving in Fiji, 33.5 per cent in French Polynesia and 26.6 per cent in other Pacific Island countries, so it's strategic for us to sell our South Pacific destinations at a platform where we can access the US market," said Mr Cocker.

He said the event would give exhibitors the opportunity to build and establish business relationships with key trade and tourism partners.

SPTO marketing manager Alisi Lutu said they were also there to promote the current and upcoming tourism developments in the region, mainly to visiting American travel agents.

Ms Lutu said they would also showcase the beautiful island destinations to potential visitors looking for new experiences and holiday destinations.

According to SPTO the LA Travel & Adventure Show has become the USA's most important travel event for marketers wishing to reach consumers and travel agents which is ideal for the seven participating member countries which include Samoa, Tonga, American Samoa, Fiji, Cook Islands, Tahiti and Solomon Islands.
