Council under scrutiny

A MUNICIPAL council in the North is under scrutiny after complaints and concerns raised by a group of residents.

The residents of Savusavu lodged their complaints and concerns against the Savusavu Town Council with the Prime Minister's Office.

Permanent secretary in the PM's Office Yogesh Karan confirmed receiving the complaints from the residents.

He said the complaints had been forwarded to the Ministry of Local Government for investigations.

Mr Karan also confirmed that the complaints were about corruption-related allegations.

Ministry of Local Government permanent secretary Joshua Wycliffe said the matter was being carefully reviewed by the ministry.
