Servant of God

Kiniviliame Keteca, Nausori

THE legendary and renowned evangelist, the Rev Billy Graham is reported to have said this: "Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don't you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God."

Fitting words of praise and admiration of the late Mr Graham have filled the international media on the passing of this great servant of God.

He is a Christian icon. A true servant of God. A global evangelist. A hero.

He epitomised the life well lived. And more.

I join the many in echoing the words of our Lord Jesus Christ: "Well done, good and faithful servant! Enter into the joys of thy Lord".

To our readers, I refer to a question posed by Mr Graham's son. He asked: "What about you?" Franklin, also an evangelist, asked followers, "When you depart this world, do you know with certainty where you will spend eternity?"

May I submit an answer by quoting the late Mr Graham.

He said: "I am not going to Heaven because I have preached to great crowds or read the Bible many times. I'm going to Heaven just like the thief on the cross who said in that last moment: Lord, remember me".
