THE Ba Rugby Union's 10s tournament has received a major boost ahead of its club competition tomorrow.

The Vodafone Cup powerhouse in the Fiji Rugby Union's B division team received a set of trophies for prizes from businessman Mahendra Bilimoria on Wednesday.

The trophies will be presented to the best player, best dressed team, high scorer and the best youngest playerat after the club competition.

While speaking to this newspaper on the gift, Bilimoria said his aim was to help lift Ba rugby.

"Ba is known for football but I want to help the district in terms of rugby. There are many untapped talents especially rugby players from the hills of Ba. They need to be part of this new journey and join in the race to uplift Ba in terms of rugby," he said.

Ba union secretary Solomone Vakanawa said the aim of the event was to put up a strong team for the B division competition.

He said Ba had produce household names in Fiji rugby such as Josua Tuisova, Pio Tuwai, Filipe Nakosi and Waisea Nacuqu to name a few.

"We are calling on villagers from the hills of Ba to form teams and be part of the clubs competitions.

"Our under-20 last year lost in the final of the Vodafone Cup and we urge secondary school students to be part of the competition too," Vakanawa said.

For the season, clubs are to pay $350 for registration fees while the 10s tournament fee is $50. The 10s tournament will be held at the Ba Market ground.
