NAUCUKIDI House won the Lelean Memorial School (LMS) inter-house competition at the ANZ Stadium in Suva yesterday.

The Naucukidi House boys won 34 gold, 35 silver and 21 bronze medals while the girls won 16 gold, 13 silver and 10 bronze medals.

Varani House finished second followed by Mateinaniu and Bulu houses.

School athletics coach Iva Volavola Powell was pleased with yesterday's results.

"We came out in numbers this year compared to previous years when a lot of students concentrated on rugby league," Powell said.

"This year the principal directed everyone to participate. We had 700 plus students participating. The aim was to get everybody out and find out their talents.

"Last year, after a long while, we were able to get medals in sprint events. We had three silver and one bronze medal. This year we aim to do better at the Coca-Cola Games."

The winner of the 100 metres senior boys final, Jope Tagilala said he had been training hard for the past five weeks.

"It is good to win. My aim now is to do my best and win the blue ribbon event of the Triple-N-Zone. I dedicate this win to my parents," he said.

Eroni Vosanibola, who won the 200m and came second in the 100m final said he would train hard for the Coca-Cola Games in April.

"I have been pushing my limits. For the zone, I have to work hard and improve to get better," Vosanibola said.
