BEGINNING as a small humble business in 1982, focused only on the production of wooden brush, Pinto Industries has expanded over the years with its product range expanding to 400 products.

The company's director Shirley Narayan this week told Minister for Forestry Osea Naiqamu during his tour at the factory that they had designed their small sawmill to assist the company meet the increasing demand of their timber processing factory for wooden products and timber requirements for the construction industry.

Ms Narayan, who is the wife of owner and managing director Vishal Narayan, told Mr Naiqamu and his team the company's sawmill had been in operation since it received its sawmill licence last year.

"We have been purchasing native logs, pine and mahogany from our local licensed logging contractors and we are satisfied with the progress to date," she said.

"Pinto Industries Ltd has learnt a lot in the last 35 years of our existence and we strongly believe that we can contribute more to the Look North Policy and building up our blessed country of Fiji.

"We are greatly honoured of your visit to our factory today and we look forward to working closely with the ministry in the near future."

Meanwhile speaking to Mr Naiqamu during their tour of the factory the company's production manager Farul Khan revealed to him that they were receiving an order for 2000 roti rolling pins and board on a weekly basis from their business partners.

Pinto Industries employs about 200 people at their Namara and Vakamasisuasua factories.

Meanwhile Mr Naiqamu commended the company for its growth over the years adding that Government was adamant about growing local businesses.
