TUI Tavua Ratu Nacanieli Kuwa says the development of new residential lots in Tavua Town is essential to the progress of the town's economy.

At the groundbreaking ceremony of the $4 million residential project at Koronisalusalu, he said the new lots would pave the way for more economic activity.

"This is an opening for more projects and investments for the town," he said. "It will address housing issues, which we will urgently need as the town develops.

"We are focusing on the economy of Tavua, which means more projects and a lot more investors to set up their businesses in Tavua."

The Tui Tavua commended the Housing Authority of Fiji and the Ministry of Local Government and Housing.

Local Government and Housing Minister Parveen Kumar said the development was significant and timely.

"This development of close to 15 acres will consist 119 lots," he said.

"I am sure all of this will assist in addressing the growing demand for housing in this area.

"I look forward to the developers B.W. Holdings Ltd completing the groundwork in the next 10 months."
