Fijian women urged to apply for leadership seminar

Update: 5:35PM GRADUATE Women Fiji (GWF) has encouraged Fijian women to apply for the opportunity to participate in the yearly 'Changing Faces Women's Leadership' seminar that will take place in Hawaii from May 6-19.

Application to the event will undergo a screening process in which about 10 individuals are chosen to participate from the Asia Pacific region.

GWF vice president Maria Pastorizo-Sekiguchi who was a successful applicant in 2014 believes more women need to apply for the event because it empowers women to be leaders through extensive training in leadership, marketing, funding, job generating plans and action planning.

"I encourage all women to apply as it was a life-changing experience for me and 'amazing' won't do the experience justice," she said.

"Apart from the training sessions, we also did community and site visits where they took us to businesses around Honolulu and flew us to Maui to meet business owners and observe and ask about their businesses.

"There were about two cultural and historical excursions and we also had financial management and budgeting as one of the training sessions."

Applications to the event can be accessed through https://www.eastwestcenter.org
