Seasonal workers conditions must improve

Friday, February 09, 2018

Update: 1:07PM THERE is a need to improve working conditions for Fijian workers deployed under the Seasonal Work Program (SWP) in Australia.

Stakeholders met in Australia to also plan out ways to increase the number of Fijians deployed to work under the SWP.

Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Jone Usamate met with Australian Minister for International Development and the Pacific, Senator Concetta Wells and Liberal Senator and Executives of the National Farmers Federation, Zed Seselja in Canberra earlier this week to discuss matters related to SWP.

While meeting with Fijian workers who were employed with Dahegam Fresh Produce in Canberra, Australia, Mr Usamate emphasised the importance of working as a team so they could maximise the benefits of the work opportunities.
