EVERYBODY loves it when the spoons and forks laid out on the dining table are shiny and clean that you can see your reflection on them. Stained and rusted cutlery are not only an eyesore, but also hazardous to our health.

Leaving dirty dishes on the sink for a long time allow tonnes of bacteria to accumulate on them. High accumulation of bacteria attracts unwanted pests such as rats, cockroaches and flies. Not forgetting the foul smell that day-old foods give out can be unbearable in some cases. For the safety of you and your family, your stainless steel and silverware deserve careful cleaning and maintenance because they are being used every day. The website gives an insight on how to care for stainless steel cutlery and silverware so that they last longer.

Clean and care for your stainless steel cutlery

1. First wash your cutlery in hot water and washing liquid. Removing salts and acid as soon as possible after eating is important because they cause gradual damage to your cutlery.

2. Hand dry with a clean non-abrasive cloth to remove any water spots. The quicker you dry you cutlery the better because open air will cause unwanted drying marks.

3. Wipe cutlery in a circular motion with a soft damp cloth lightly dampened with white vinegar.

4. Gently rub olive oil or lemon juice on the stain by using a soft dry cloth. Leave to dry.

Care for your silverware

Silver damages easily so you will need to clean your silver carefully.

1. Try to avoid using the dishwasher to clean your silver because it will cause further damage to it. Always clean your silver by hand and dry them immediately to avoid water stains.

2. Remove any food remains as soon as possible and rinse off any excess residue in warm soapy water.

3. Always use a soft non-abrasive cloth to dry off your silver cutlery.

4. To protect your cutlery and keep it clean for longer, store your silver in cotton bags or wraps.
