Arrival of wheels

Christopher Griffin Perth, Australia
Friday, February 09, 2018

MR Vakaliwaliwa is right (Letters 7/2) to cheer the arrival of "wheels" new ambulances and also point out the need for more hospital emergency staff members.

In between "wheels" and hospitals, of course, is the need for trained ambulance staff or paramedics.

About 120 by my rough estimate. "Wheels" are not enough. Ambulance teams are not simply "drivers" and porters, prompt treatment is of the essence.

Two of my family members in Suva and my closest neighbour in Rakiraki were never so lucky — two this past week.
