No case against politician

NATIONAL Federation Party parliamentarian Parmod Chand believes God set him free.

Yesterday, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Christopher Pryde, found insufficient reliable evidence to support any criminal charges against Mr Chand.

The Labasa businessman was arrested in December last year and questioned by police for alleged seditious offences contrary to the Crimes Act as a result of alleged comments he made at a shop in Delailabasa on August 14, 2017.

He was surprised when informed about the DPP's decision. Mr Chand's first response was "sweet".

According to Mr Chand, he always believed that God and the law was always on his side because he never did anything wrong.

In making his decision known and as a result of the situation, Mr Pryde said the docket had been returned to the police.
